Brethren:
As has been the tradition over many years, April is the month the Valley of Providence performs a degree between the 19° and 32° degrees, that is not normally performed during the year. This year, we will present the 23° “Chief of the Tabernacle”, also known as the Four Chaplains. This degree is referred to in the 4° presented in January and September each year and teaches that with faith in God and love for your fellow man, man will make great sacrifices to help others. The Valley of Providence has not portrayed this degree since it was updated in 1996, and may never have conferred this degree at all. Come out and enjoy a new experience, as it may be many years before our Valley presents the 23° again.
Fraternally,

Hospitalers Fund
The Valley of Providence would like to thank the members for their generous contributions to our Hospitalers Fund. (White Envelope) This fund is for our own Valley; the donations stay right here and help to bring relief and good cheer to our Brethren. This is a very important and worthwhile charitable cause and we are very grateful for your support.
Help Wanted!
Brethren, as we are always trying to get more people involved in the Scottish Rite in order for many people to do only a little, your help is needed. Since I am speaking as the Casting Director, I hope I can interest more people to help with the degrees. If you are willing to help in a speaking or non-speaking part please let me know. While we have had a good response in the past, we always would like to get more members involved. One of the benefits I have found as part of the cast, is the fellowship you share during these degrees. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you conquer a fear that you possess, and if you have a fear of ritual or public speaking, here is a place for you to conquer that fear among friends. You can start with a non-speaking part, and when and if you feel ready, ask for a short speaking part and then work up to a larger speaking part if you would like to. It is up to you to decide. If you have an interest in taking part in the degrees, please contact myself at 401-828-2617.
Once again, I believe if you do not overburden members, you will get more participation, but it is necessary for members to commit to a certain number of obligations during the year to do this. This request is an example of that commitment we have toward making this work. Traditionally, some obligations have required monthly attendance. If you are interested in that job but can not help out monthly, I am sure it could be set up that you handle that responsibility certain months and other members handle it during other months. With more members participating, this can be done.
If you would like to participate in some way other than being cast in a degree, please contact Tom Yeaw, Valley Secretary, at 401-461-2480.
